The Ultimate Guide to Perfect Brows

Did you know that your eyebrows are the most important facial feature you have? They convey emotion, frame your face and define your features; they can even change the way you look. Choosing the right color and achieving Instagram-worthy brows can seem daunting, so we created this guide to help you put your best brow forward!

Find Your Brow Color

First things first - let's pick out the best color brow liner for you. Traditionally, you would pick a brow pencil that's one to two shades lighter than the color of your hair, but our Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner™ goes one step beyond your traditional eyebrow pencil. Buildable Smart Pigments™ act like microscopic mirrors to reflect the color of your natural brows, so you get a perfect match every time.

To help you identify your ideal brow shade, we created this color chart. Just find your hair color on the chart below!

brow chart

Christina is our lightest shade. If your hair color is a lighter grey or in the range of light blonde - dark blonde, then this brow liner is for you!

Our most versatile shade of Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner™ is Audrey. It adjusts to match dark blondes, all brunettes, redheads and dark grey. This is the best shade for most people.

The newest and deepest shade of brow liner is Serena. This shade is ideal for dark brunettes to black hair!

Now that you've picked out the best brow liner for you, let's move on to...

How to Fill Your Brows

Sculpting your brows is easier than it sounds. Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner™ is designed to mimic the look of natural brow hair, and the ultra-fine retractable tip makes it easy to use. All you have to do is follow three simple steps: line, define + blend.

Line: Draw a thin, clean line on the base of your brow to define your arch.

Define: Fill in brows with short, hairlike strokes, focusing on sparse areas.

Blend: Use the spoolie brush to blend and evenly distribute color through brows.

Introducing the Perfect 24/7 Eyeshadow Palette - Focus Eyeshadow

Through Thrive Lab, we encourage our customers to be a part of our product development process. When we asked for your help in creating our newest innovation, an everyday eyeshadow quad, the feedback came flooding in — eyeshadow is a very hot topic! Alas, allow us to introduce you to our NEW Focus Eyeshadow Palettes! We curated two gorgeous palettes of four shades that will take you from your morning coffee to your evening cocktail (or in our case, cocktails) with ease. The finely-milled micro-pigments within the formula are infused with sodium hyaluronate and vitamin B5 to yield a decadent, full-coverage pigment that’s irresistibly lush. Here are four easy ways to take you on your way to glowing, sparkling eyes:

Prime

  • Start with Claudia or Victoria and apply to your entire lid from lash line to brow bone. Both shades serve as a base and can be worn by themselves for a one-step no-fuss look.
Lid
  • Use Gloria or Elizabeth to add dimension to your eyes by applying to your lids, starting at the outer corners and sweeping inwards.

Contour

  • Take things up a notch by adding Carolina or Kate to the creases and outside corners of your lids.

Intensify

  • Ready for that wow factor? Intensify your look even more by layering Esparanza or Diana on your creases to make an alluring smoky eye.

BONUS: Don’t you love two-in-one products? When used with a thin, wet brush, Gloria, Elizabeth, Esperanza and Diana double as an eyeliner.

Pro Tip: We love pairing our Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner in Nalie (Bronzer Shimmer) with Palette No. 1 and Lauren (Black Matte) with Palette No. 2.

How to Apply False Eyelashes Like a Professional Makeup Artist

If you’re having trouble keeping the ends of your faux lashes to stay in place, try wrapping your false eyelashes around your eyeliner or makeup brush prior to applying them to prevent them from popping up. This pro makeup artist trick will keep your eyelashes in place all day.

Make sure to trim your fake eyelashes prior to wrapping them around the eyeliner to ensure you get a tight curl that fits your eye shape perfectly.

If you still find the inner or outer corner of your falsies popping up, use the smudge tip on the end of your Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner to gently tap them into place.

You can also use the brush applicator on your Infinity Waterproof Lash Adhesive to apply a small amount of glue to “seal” the false eyelashes in place. Our proprietary formula dries invisibly clear, so it won’t affect the rest of your makeup.

Skincare Benefits of Bubbly!

Wondering what to do with the extra champagne you have post-holiday? While we 100% recommend popping open a bottle of bubbly to keep the party going into 2016, it also makes a fabulous facial toner!

Skincare benefits of bubbly. Grape seed extract, champagne, facial toner

Facial toner is an excellent way to detoxify and balance the natural pH of your skin post-cleansing. Toner also helps to soften skin, unclog pores and even out your complexion.

Champagne contains high levels of grape seed extract, which means it is packed with antioxidants! Grape seed extract contains more vitamin C and E than most anti-aging products and it helps to slow the breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin by protecting against environmental free radicals and oxidative stress. Our Infinity Waterproof Brow Liner contains L-ascorbic acid, the most stable form of vitamin C.

Your favorite bottle of bubbly also contains tartaric acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid found naturally in many plants. Alpha-hydroxy acids help to lighten and even out hyperpigmentation in the skin due to overexposure to sun (sun-spots) or melasma. Grapes, cranberries, tamarinds and bananas have significant sources of tartaric acid.

Try it by simply soaking a cotton pad with room temperature or chilled champagne, then apply to your face after cleansing making sure to avoid the eye area.

As with all new skincare products, be sure to patch test on your neck or hands if you have sensitive skin. If you have dry skin, start out by using this toner 1-2 times per week. For those with oily or combination skin, use daily.

The Difference Between Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate

What is this so-called “hydration miracle” called hyaluronic acid that seems to be popping up in everyone’s favorite skincare products? Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring molecule (specifically a polysaccharide) found in skin, hair, eyes, joints and nerves that acts as a cushion to promote collagen and elastic, keeping us looking and feeling young! Why do we love it? Hyaluronic acid holds 1,000 times it’s weight in water, so it is literally a super magnet for moisture.

Along with proper sun protection, adequate skin hydration is crucial to combat the signs of aging, which is why hyaluronic acid, or it’s sister ingredient, sodium hyaluronate, is a must. The clinical data on this rock star ingredient’s benefit in skin care inspired us to include it in both our Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner and Infinity Waterproof Brow Liner.

What is the difference between hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate?

Sodium hyaluronate is a water-soluble salt form of hyaluronic acid created by scientists to increase stability and lessen the likelihood of oxidization. The two names (hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate) are used interchangeably in the beauty industry, but they do have their differences.

We choose to use sodium hyaluronate in our products because it is a smaller molecule, which allows it to more easily penetrate the skin. Our proprietary form of sodium hyaluronate is specifically engineered in our labs to have a low molecule weight for maximum bioavailability.

Why do we include it in our eyeliner and brow liner?

Sodium hyaluronate helps your skin and hair retain moisture while reducing trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). As we age, our eyelids lose elasticity and moisture sodium hyaluronate helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by “plumping up” the skin.

What does sodium hyaluronate look like?

Both hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate are created in a solution form that is primarily comprised of water before it is added to our formulas. Here’s what it looks like:

Hot Off The Catwalk: Thrive On The Runway

As a makeup artist, I’ve seen it all at New York Fashion Week: from barely there nudes to faux face piercings. Sometimes it’s hard to replicate the beauty looks you see on the runway for everyday wear.

This season, we created a working-girl-chic beauty look that you can easily recreate in five minutes or less.

Here’s what’s trending:

Bold Brows - Using our Infinity Waterproof Brow Liner, we sketched a soft outline to perfectly sculpt the eyebrows.

Pro Tip: We brushed the brows upward using our spoolie before applying eyebrow liner to give the eyes a more editorial and natural look.

See more expert eyebrow tips and tricks here.

Daytime Smoky Eye: We applied a wash of nude eyeshadow to the entire eyelid and added a little drama by applying Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner at a flat angle along the upper and lower lash lines. Starting at the inner corner of eye and working outward, we created a bold, thick line and blended using the smudge tip for smoldering color.

And of course, no runway beauty routine would be complete without a fabulous pair of false eyelashes! We used our best-selling Jackie Lashes to polish the look.

Soft lips: To balance out the bold eye look, we swept a pale pink gloss onto the lips to keep the look polished and fresh for everyday wear.

Thrive Causemetics was the mastermind behind Assembly New York's Ready-to-Wear beauty look. To compliment designer Greg Armas’ classic, pared-back style, Thrive’s Glam Squad created a bold brow and eye, neutral lip and center-parted, tousled hair. Models wore Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner, Infinity Waterproof Brow Liner and Jackie Lashes.
