Last October, we donated 100% of our profits to our Giving Partner, Keep A Breast, a nonprofit organization who is taking action against breast cancer by empowering women through breast health education, early detection and support. Thanks to your generous support, the donations made were able to fully fund Keep A Breast’s newly updated app.
The Keep A Breast app empowers women—especially younger women—to be their own health advocates by making breast health information more widely accessible. The app was originally launched in 2016 and has recently rolled out some new and improved features. These include step-by-step self-check tutorials featuring animated GIFs, expanded breast health resources and information, and methods to get any necessary medical and emotional support when needed. According to Keep A Breast's website, about 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. When breast cancer is detected early, in the localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 98%.
Shaney Jo Darden, Founder and CEO of Keep A Breast, told MedGadget: “Our mission is to empower young people around the world with breast health education and support. We do that through our new app, the Keep A Breast app, where users can learn to check themselves, prevention education on our website, and Fit 4 Prevention, a program to encourage movement to lower your risk of breast cancer.”
Darden founded Keep A Breast 20 years ago, and explained, “Our vision is a world without breast cancer. But until then, we’re here to educate young people about the true risks of cancer, ways of living a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle, and the importance of a self-check and early detection.”
Thanks to you, we’re Bigger Than Beauty®! The Keep A Breast app is available as a free download from the Apple Store and Google Play. You can find out more about Keep A Breast Foundation on their website or by scanning the QR code below.
