Meet Emily, the inspiring force behind our Sheer Strength® Lip-Plumping Peptide Gloss in the shade, Clear Shimmer!
Emily Herrell's journey as a Warrior Mama began with her own son's battle against stage IV rhabdomyosarcoma. In May 2019, Drew (Emily’s son) was diagnosed with this aggressive form of childhood cancer, propelling Emily into the daunting world of pediatric oncology. Over the course of Drew's treatment — 42 weeks of frontline chemotherapy, followed by months of maintenance chemo and proton radiation — Emily navigated the challenges of caregiving and motherhood with unwavering strength and determination. Drew's triumph over cancer on July 7, 2020, marked a significant milestone in Emily's mission to support families facing similar hardships.
The Warrior Mama Project emerged from Emily's firsthand experience, a testament to her commitment to aiding mothers enduring the anguish of childhood cancer. Understanding the profound impact of essential items and self-care during treatment, Emily curates ‘Warrior Mama’ care packages filled with practical and comforting essentials. Each package, thoughtfully assembled by Emily, carries a personal letter sharing her story and the significance of every chosen item — an expression of solidarity and understanding.
Childhood cancer remains significantly underfunded, with less than 4 percent of federal cancer research funding allocated to pediatric oncology. Each day, 43 children in the United States are diagnosed with this devastating disease, making childhood cancer the leading cause of death by disease among children. The Warrior Mama Project stands at the forefront of advocacy, support, and connection for families grappling with pediatric cancer.
Since 2022, Thrive Causemetics has proudly partnered with The Warrior Mama Project, amplifying their impact and spreading awareness of their vital mission. In 2023, Emily and her dear friend Christine joined us at our Los Angeles Headquarters to commemorate the launch of the "Izzy" Brilliant Eye Brightener — a touching tribute to Izzy, a courageous child who bravely fought cancer. Christine, the mother of Izzy and a cherished friend of Emily's within the childhood cancer community, embodies the spirit of resilience and hope that defines The Warrior Mama Project.
Emily's dedication resonates deeply with our mission at Thrive Causemetics, where every product purchase contributes to causes like The Warrior Mama Project. Together, we strive to empower and uplift communities, one lip gloss at a time.
