Working Women Share How Their Morning Routines Affect Their Day

Morning routines can significantly impact the rest of the day, especially for working women who often juggle multiple responsibilities. These routines also bring a sense of structure and control, which can be a source of confidence throughout the day. To better understand how much time women spend each morning and how they feel about their routines, we surveyed 1,000 women in the U.S. workforce to gain an understanding of what this daily routine looks like and whether or not it affects productivity in and outside of the workplace.

Research has found that the pandemic caused significant changes in how, when, and where we work, which, in some cases, has caused a decline in employee effectiveness. However, three-quarters of women between the ages 25–54 successfully hold down a job today, a slight increase from a decade ago. What does this have to do with a morning beauty routine? A lot. Let’s take a closer look into the insights we gained about how an a.m. regime can help build confidence and boost concentration levels for professional women, even on the most challenging days.

Key Survey Insights

  • Nearly 40% of working women include skincare and/or a beauty regimen in their routines every morning.
  • 75% of women believe that their colleagues and clients perceive them differently based on their appearance.
  • Over 90% of working women say that putting effort into their appearance positively impacts their mood and energy levels throughout the day.
  • 9 in 10 working women with morning beauty routines agreed that this routine significantly boosts their daily confidence.
  • 3 out of 4 women noted that their morning beauty routines are the most important factor that contributes to their confidence throughout the day.
  • The majority of survey respondents said that they spend at least 30 minutes on their beauty routine each day.

Focusing on personal hygiene and presentation can make a woman feel more put-together and confident. When you feel good about your appearance, it likely translates into a more positive self-image and higher self-esteem. In fact, 3 out of 4 women noted that their morning beauty routines are the most important factor that contributes to their confidence throughout the day. Because of this, over 90% of women are more likely to “get ready” if they will be working in an office or on camera. And according to the survey results, most women are spending at least 30 minutes to do so.

What are the Benefits of Putting Time into Our Appearance?

A morning beauty routine is not just about enhancing your appearance; it's about promoting self-care and mental well-being. It's a time when you can focus on yourself, your skin health, and your confidence. Most women spend at least 30 minutes on this routine because they clearly see it as a beneficial investment. In fact, 9 in 10 women said that they have noticed a difference in their communication skills at work when they stick to their morning beauty routine.

Working Women Agree

Working women agree that the morning beauty routine is not superfluous, but rather crucial to starting the day in the right way. Over 90% of working women say that putting effort into their appearance positively impacts their mood and energy levels throughout the day. And we all know that feeling good about yourself and your impact can enhance your performance in the workplace. Moreover, when you show confidence in yourself, you can inspire and support your fellow working females to do the same! While everything should not be based on appearance, when it comes to a morning beauty routine, 75% of women believe that their colleagues and clients perceive them differently based on their appearance. So, take that extra time for yourself to look and feel your best! Not only will it boost your own confidence, but it can also help uplift and motivate those around you.

The Beauty Routine is Not Performed in Vain

A morning beauty routine can offer both psychological and physical benefits, helping women start their day feeling refreshed, confident, and empowered. The discipline of maintaining a morning routine can extend to other areas of life, fostering a sense of productivity and helping with time management. Nearly all of our respondents agreed they feel more productive when they put time into their appearance (96.6%). When it comes down to it, nearly all women seem to put a little extra time into their beauty routine during the morning rush.
