Meet Shael, the inspiration behind the name of our Brilliant Face™ Highlighter Skin Perfecting Powder Shael (Champagne Gold) shade!
Shael Norris is the cofounder and Executive Director of SafeBAE, one of our incredible Giving Partners. She has dedicated her career to ending sexual abuse and empowering young people to be activists in its prevention, working with grassroots organizers to build advocate tools and safe communities.
As a young activist herself, Shael was a founding staff member of V-Day, a movement formed in 2001 to shatter taboos, create space for women and marginalized communities, and initiate community-led culture and systemic change. With the significant success of V-Day, Shael was inspired to create the Campus Accountability Project in 2007, which called for improved prevention and response to sexual abuse on college campuses. This led her to advocate for the development of SafeBAE, which came to fruition in 2015, in partnership with cofounders Daisy Coleman, Charlie Coleman, Ella Fairon, and Jada Smith.
SafeBAE is an organization that believes in the power of young students to prevent sexual abuse of teenagers. Their initiatives include creating social media campaigns, presenting at schools and events, helping students start school clubs, offering peer-educator training certifications, and providing prevention and response resources to schools. SafeBAE has an estimated reach of over 5.5 million people, and all student-engagement programs are offered for free.
SafeBAE first became a Giving Partner in 2019, and with your support, we have sent over 10,000 Thrive Causemetics® products valued at more than $250,000 to SafeBAE to support the young people working to prevent sexual abuse among peers.
