What Does Setting Spray Do? 7 Setting Spray Tips From Celebrity Makeup Artist, Jamie Greenberg

Meet celebrity makeup artist and close friend of the brand, Jamie Greenberg. Jamie is the founder of Jamie Makeup, a business she created after years of working the red carpet in order to share her makeup artist experience and carefully crafted products with the world. Jamie and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare® collaborated to create Multeye Masks, reusable eye masks available for purchase individually or as part of the Multeye-Tasking Eye Care Set, a bundle featuring our Defying Gravity™ Eye Lifting Cream. These reusable eye masks not only help your favorite eye cream or serum absorb into the skin, but also serve as a shadow guard, protecting your undereyes from makeup fallout while you’re getting ready. Jamie’s expert pro tips will truly change your makeup game. In her recent video, Setting Spray Tips That No One Tells You, Jamie featured our Instant Makeup Fix™ Set & Refresh Spray, a hydrating, sweat-proof setting spray designed to lock your makeup in place for 16 hours. Jamie shares her love for the product, as well as several tips and tricks for better eye shadow application, fixing cakey concealer, setting brows in place, and ensuring longer-lasting makeup. Here are the things Jamie wants everyone to know about the versatility of a single setting spray!

Tip #1: Spray Before Your Foundation

“Do a light mist before you put on your makeup and it works kind of like a primer.”

This setting spray is full of nourishing, moisture-boosting ingredients like caffeine and rice ferment filtrate, which restore skin’s moisture and provide a brighter, glowing complexion. Using it after applying skincare, but before makeup application, provides a hydrated and radiant base, making it the perfect first step for your makeup routine.

Tip #2: Use It On An Eyeshadow Brush

“Spray it on your brush before dipping into metallic, or shiny, luminous shadows. It’s going to intensify the pigment, and it’s going to look wet, like liquid chrome.”

Sparkly eyeshadows tend to be more loosely pressed than matte shades, increasing the chance of fallout and patchy application. A quick mist of setting spray directly on your eyeshadow brush helps pick up metallic pigments and allows for super smooth application. The slight dampness of the brush ensures the shadow adheres to your lid, rather than falling out and flaking around your eye area. The added moisture also intensifies the color and shine of eye shadows, making them appear more vibrant on the lid.

Tip #3: Spray It On A Spoolie To Lock Brows In Place

“Use it on a spoolie to lock your brows in place. It’s like brow gel, but glowier!”

On days when you don’t want to wear a full face of makeup, mist the setting spray on a spoolie, then comb through your brows for a flexible hold and naturally refined appearance. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, this setting spray also conditions and hydrates your brow hairs while helping to hold them in place.

Tip #4: Fix Creasing + Cakey Complexion

“Fix your concealer! If it’s creasing, spray and dab to smooth it out. This is better than wiping the cakiness because that just takes the makeup away. This is going to blend it better.”

Lightly spray a concealer brush and pat over textured areas to help blend out cakey concealer. The added moisture helps melt the makeup back into your skin, rather than allowing it to settle on the surface. This helps relieve the look of dryness, patchiness, and cakey-looking skin, even in the most delicate areas of your face.

Tip #5: Spray Between Layers

“Spray between layers! Spray after your foundation. Spray after your powder. And then, of course, once more at the end. Spraying is slaying!”

A quick spray in between the steps of your routine helps soften the look of makeup and allows it to blend seamlessly into your skin. This ensures that the layers of makeup are melted together, helping to prevent creasing and separation, especially for people with oily or combination skin. A final spray at the end helps lock in hydration and extend the wear of your makeup for 16 hours.

Tip #6: Refresh Throughout The Day

“Use it throughout the day. If you feel matte or tired. Use it to wake up your makeup. Use it to give you that glow again.”

Not only can this spray be used to set your final look, it can also be used to refresh your skin throughout the day. Whether you are wearing makeup or not, a quick mist of this spray instantly revives dull skin. The lightweight mist is perfect for touching up your makeup and adding glow back into your complexion. It’s a super refreshing, spa-like mist that will elevate any daily routine.

Tip #7: Set + Forget

“If you use powder and you’re looking like a ghost, setting spray brings your face back!”

While powders are great for absorbing oil, sometimes skin can look a little flat when it is overly matte. To help bring your skin back to life, use a quick spritz of our setting spray to instantly rehydrate and add glow back to the skin. You’ll still receive all the great benefits of your favorite powder, without the dry finish or white cast.
